Conversations on Twitter can be notoriously difficult to badyze – just ask CEO and co-founder Jack Dorsey, who has been involved in a conversation with recodingKara Swisher from yesterday who was renowned a "chaotic chaos" that even Dorsey said "was certainly not easy to follow". One reason is that Twitter does not automatically organize conversations in an easy-to-dissect manner, and the volume of voices resounding on some threads can become overwhelming.
Dorsey said the company was working hard on this issue and that a new feature tested by Twitter, called profile preview overlay, is aimed at solving the problem of tracking conversations with threads, in particular. As a general rule, when you view tweet responses, then click on the photo or the name of the respondent, you automatically access their profile. This tends to disrupt the way you follow a complex thread, forcing you to digest a new page of information and potentially lose track of what you were reading at first, when all you really wanted to see was probably the biography of the person answered.
The new feature will now display a preview overlay on the mobile so you can see the full biography of your replicator on Twitter, the number of followers and the time they joined the service. There is an option to access the full profile and all standard sharing options that you do not normally see by pressing the share button on a tweet, but tailored to the user's profile.

This is not a revolutionary change, but it is certainly a useful change. Too often, on Twitter, discussions can be rabbit holes that, while being fun, tend to leave users less well off or more confused than when they started reading a particular active conversation.
A feature like profile preview is a good way to help users stay focused on a particular conversation and gain important participant information without having to keep moving. Twitter's CEO may not be making public Q & A, but this is a subtle, solid interface trick that could make Twitter use more user-friendly.
