Trade Minister defends German-German Commercial Council

Ghana has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Federal Republic of Germany to establish the Ghana-Ghana Business Council.

The creation of this council will facilitate the exchange of information and views on economic cooperation, trade and investment. It will promote industrial cooperation in small and medium-sized enterprises and will also collaborate on issues of mutual interest in the context of multilateral trade negotiations.

The Minister of Trade and Industry, Alan Kyerematen, signed a memorandum of understanding with the Federal Republic of Germany, represented by Mr Thomas Bareib, Minister of Economy and Trade l & # 39; Energy.

The signing ceremony that took place on the sidelines of 3rd Senior government officials and business leaders from Ghana and Germany attended the German-African Business Summit at the Kempinski Gold City City Hotel. The Ghana-Ghana Business Council was established to facilitate economic cooperation and promote bilateral trade and investment between the two countries.

In an interview, the Minister of Commerce said the role of the Council would, among other things, be to identify trade opportunities, trade-related activities and investments that can be harnessed by both countries to strengthen bilateral relations in the fields of the economy, trade and investment cooperation.

Alan Kyerematen said he is optimistic that Ghanaian SMEs would emulate the core competencies of German SMEs and take advantage of the research and innovation of German companies through strategic partnerships.

In addition, the Minister of Commerce participated in the High Level Round Table on how Africa can transform the 21st century.st Century into Africa's Century stated that the Council will hold consultations on specific issues of mutual interest in trade and investment.

He stressed that the Council would identify specific constraints on mutual trade, investment and economic cooperation and work together to address these constraints in the framework of this structured approach.
