Thursday, Google has dedicated its doodle to the emblematic actor of Indian cinema Madhubala, better known as "Marilyn Monroe Bollywood". The Bangalore-based artist, Muhammed Sajid, created the scribble to pay tribute to the actor on the occasion of his 86th birthday.
Madhubala, who has played in more than 70 films, was known for its beauty and elegance. Raised in the shantytowns of what was then Bombay, she supported her family as a child star and quickly became a prominent lady on the screen. During a tragically brief career, Madhubala was nicknamed "The Greatest Star of the World" in 1952 by the magazine Theater Arts. In 2008, she appeared on a commemorative stamp in India, where many remember her as one of the greatest to have ever challenged the big screen.
Madhubala died at the age of 36 on February 23, 1969, after a long illness.
