Liverpool will face competition for Luka Jovic's signing after Chelsea has submitted a bid of 39 million pounds.
Liverpool club Jurgen Klopp has followed the striker from Eintracht Frankfurt, Jovic, who is on the radar of several clubs including Barcelona and Real Madrid.
But now, Chelsea has outscored rivals with a bid of 45 million euros (39 million euros) for the 21-year-old, according to Metro.
Jovic, who is loaned to Frankfurt by Benfica, is considered one of the best prospects in Europe and has had an outstanding season with 19 goals in 27 games.
Despite one of the most formidable front lines in Europe among Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp, will be looking for strong reinforcements this summer. Daniel Sturridge's contract should end, while Divock Origi should leave in search of more play time.
Former Reds striker Michael Owen said Liverpool should look to recruit new talent in his attack, and Serb striker Jovic is doing the trick.
Earlier this week, reports in Spain claimed that Barcelona had agreed to a personal agreement with the striker and was preparing to negotiate with Frankfurt on a transfer fee.
Although Jovic is on loan, the Bundesliga club has already announced that he was going to exercise his right to purchase clause as part of his contract with Benfica.
But Chelsea has made Jovic its priority target for the summer period and is ready to present a bid of £ 39m.
After signing Gonzalo Higuain in January, Chelsea is also on the market for another attacker this summer. Olivier Giroud's contract will expire at the end of the season, although a one-year extension is possible. Jovic's representative, Fali Ramadani, is currently in talks with Frankfurt to discuss possible options once the season is over.
