Matthijs de Ligt makes a transfer decision, says his teammate at Ajax

Barcelona has already caught Frenkie de Jong from Ajax and could be joined by fellow Dutch star Matthijs de Ligt, according to La Masia Academy graduate Andre Onana.

The Spanish giants have completed the transfer of 65 million pounds sterling from De Jong last month. The young man should join the Catalan giants at the end of the season for a five-year contract.

De Ligt, the 19-year-old captain of Ajax and noted, made his league debut for the Dutch giants in 2016 and has already been selected 13 times by the Netherlands.

And according to Goal, defender De Ligt would have made his decision and would like to follow De Jong to camp Nou this summer.

Onana – who attended the famed La Masia Academy in Barca before joining Ajax in 2015 – claimed that a teammate from the club had made it clear to him that he wanted to settle in La Liga.

The Cameroonian goalkeeper said: "De Ligt would also like to go, I spoke to him several times and with both."

Onana also praised midfielder De Jong, 21, who left the team, adding, "He is young and can always improve, he still has a lot of progress to be made. "

For his part, the Barcelona president, Josep Maria Bartomeu, revealed the interest of the club for De Ligt.

Speaking in an interview with Radio Kbad Barcelona he admitted, "We've been following De Ligt for a while, he's a player we like, but the Barca also has other important players in the team.

"We'll see more things from March or April, and we're excited to see him play and admire, but there's nothing more for the moment."
