Slack wants to simplify the development of extensions for its own platform and introduces the new block kit framework, including an badociated modular system.
The creation of new applications is based on Block Kit on a modular system consisting of five blocks in total:
- section: a container for the text
- context: Indication of other descriptions and metadata
- picture: a container for the content of the image
- partition: a separator to divide the content for more readability
- actions: a container for interactive components such as buttons, six drop-down lists, and a date picker

Block Kit Builder comes with a set of customizable templates for common functions to make typing easier. These include examples of various permits or notifications. Therefore, developers should not start over when a new project is due.
One of the first applications developed for the new Block Kit Framework is the Slack extension of the Doodle Planning solution. The application simplifies planning on multiple calendars. For example, free slots can be found quickly and automatically via the built-in date picker.
