Four children and their teacher were injured when a leopard entered their elementary school during a rare attack in Chad, witnesses said.
Five people were injured when the fat cat entered an army colonel's house around 7 am, said Moussa Issa, who lives nearby.
He then went to the school where the other injuries occurred, said another resident of the locality.
Security forces killed the leopard after wandering near a military base, reported Issa.
The leopard was a "pet" owned by an army official, said residents of Amsinene district of the capital N'Djamena.
Leopards are clbadified as vulnerable species, according to the International Union for the Conservation of Nature.
The Wildlife Conservation Group, Panthera, said the number of leopards in Africa had dropped by 40% in recent years and that the exact number of leopards in the world was not known.
