Influenza virus makes 56 dead – Greek City Times

The Hellenic Center for Disease Prevention and Control (HCDCP) announced Thursday that the flu virus has killed 56 people in total.

According to the HCDCP, influenza complications during the influenza season have increased since the last incident. 17 new deaths were reported between 4 and 10 February, while 40 new patients were admitted with influenza in intensive care units.

Of the 56 deaths, 49 were hospitalized in an intensive care unit; 39 were men and 17 women and age ranged from 0 to 90 years.

The total number of laboratory-confirmed influenza cases reached 226 in Greece, of which 219 were treated in an intensive care unit and 29 were vaccinated against influenza.

According to the HCDCP, influenza activity in Greece remains high, as are visits to the doctor for flu-related symptoms.
