Goaso, of the municipality of North Asunafo, has been named capital of the new region of Ahafo.
President Akufo-Addo spoke at a ceremony to present Constitutional Instrument (CI) No. 113 for the establishment of the Ahafo region at Jubilee House in Accra on Wednesday, February 13, 2019, and announced that an amount of 20 million crowns had been allocated to the new region.
The president also said that the development of the Ahafo region will extend to all cities and towns.
Akufo-Addo also appointed Brong Ahafo Regional Minister and Evans Opoku-Bobie as Alternate Minister of the New Ahafo Area, until the appointment of a deputy minister.
Until now, four of the new regions have received their capital. They are:
North East Region – Nalerigu
Savanna Region – Damongo
Bono East – Techiman
Ahafo Region – Goaso
