Luke Chambers is a doubt for Ipswich

The base club, Ipswich, will be watching captain Luke Chambers before the Sky Bet Championship match against Stoke.

The defender missed the 1-1 draw midweek against Derby because of a foot problem. Midfielder Cole Skuse is one of many players to have been touched by a disease virus. Flynn Downes should also be watched.

Midfielder Jon Nolan scored to tie against Derby and was able to start. Winger Gwion Edwards (groin) is about to make a comeback, while defenseman James Collins (hamstring) remains unclear. Forwards Freddie Sears (knee) and Jack Lankester (back), as well as midfielders Emyr Huws (knee), Ben Folami (Achilles) and Grant Ward (cross) are all marginalized.

Stoke should watch defenseman Tom Edwards, who was injured in the lead in the first half of the 0-0 draw at Wigan. Benik Afobe could retain his place in attack alongside Sam Vokes, while winger James McClean was impressed after leaving the bench for the last half-hour.

Sam Clucas should again appear as left-back. Midfielder Charlie Adam is once again able to cope with a calf problem, but will not be brought back to action. Stoke's 0-0 draw at Wigan earned him four scoreless games and a win for Nathan Jones' men.

Opta Stats

Ipswich has not won in seven league games against Stoke (W0 D3 L4), since winning 1-0 in December 2004.

This is Stoke's first visit to Portman Road to face Ipswich in all competitions since January 2008; a match that ended in a 1-1 draw in the championship.

Since Paul Lambert's first league match at the head of Ipswich, no championship team has collected fewer points than the Tractor Boys (10, tied with Bolton).

Nathan Jones has already faced Ipswich Town, bowing 0-2 as Luton Town's manager in the first round of the League Cup in 2017-18.

Ipswich has conceded 55 goals in the Championship this season, more than their total in three seasons under Mick McCarthy (54 in 2013-14 and 2014-15, 51 in 2015-16 – without the playoffs).

Stoke has scored five times in a row since February 2006.

The prediction of Prutton

Ipswich was not as bad as the scorecard looked at Norwich last weekend and they did well to fight up to a point against Derby midweek. Good performances and draws are not enough for them at this stage.

Stoke ended a draw Wednesday at Wigan, but he does not seem so threatening in front of goal for the moment. Score draw for me.

David Prutton predicts: 1-1 (5/1 with Sky Bet)
