Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said Anthony Martial and Jesse Lingard would be injured on the outside for two to three weeks.

Anthony Martial and Jesse Lingard are out for two to three weeks and will miss Manchester United against Chelsea and Liverpool.

Lingard has been training just before halftime in the first leg of the last 16 meetings against Paris Saint-Germain at Old Trafford, with what appeared to be a hamstring injury.

Martial was injured earlier in the match and continued to play until the break but did not reappear until the second half.

"I think they're going to be away for two or three weeks now," Solskjaer said at his press conference in anticipation of the first-leg match of the FA Cup fifth round with Chelsea.

Jesse Lingard is injured against PSG

A three-week absence would allow both players to miss the Premier League home game against Liverpool next Sunday, live on Sky Sports, and could even see them leave the second leg against PSG on March 6th.

According to Solskjaer, Alexis Sanchez and Romelu Lukaku, as well as some of United's young hopefuls, will have the chance to prove their worth during the spell of Lingard and Martial.

Anthony Martial was also injured in the first half against PSG and was replaced at halftime.

He said: "This is a chance for all those who play, be it Alexis, Romelu or Angel (Gomes).

"Anthony and Jesse have done very well for us, they are essential in the offensives with their pace.

"Romelu and Alexis have different skills, so we need to form a team for Monday now."

Solskjaer says that Lukaku and Sanchez will have their chances to impress in the coming weeks

The acting boss of United hoped to hire Mason Greenwood, 17, in the team to face Chelsea, but revealed that the young man had also been injured.

"We thought Mason Greenwood is now your time to intervene, but he is also hurt unfortunately, he is away for a few weeks as well," said Solskjaer.

"It's just how your luck sometimes goes, Mason will have his chance later."

Young duo Angel Gomes and Tahith Chong have trained with the first United team in recent weeks. Solskjaer said the two players now had a "big chance" of being involved against Chelsea on Monday.

"It may be (the time of arrival of Gomes or Chong)," he added.

"We still have advanced options, but Angel and Chongy have been training all week, even the weeks before, so there's a good chance they're involved."
