Efe Ambrose, who won 51 international caps, was on trial in Derby
Derby County has hired former Hibernian defender Efe Ambrose until the end of the season.
The 30-year-old Nigerian international was free after leaving the Scottish Premier League last month.
Ambrose was recruited after an injury to captain Curtis Davies.
"Efe is an experienced central defender and he gives us another option in this area," said Frank Lampard, the Derby coach, at the club's website.
Ambrose won four Scottish titles with Celtic between 2012 and 2017 and an Olympic silver medal with Nigeria in Beijing in 2008.
