Dambai is the capital of the region of Oti

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has designated Dambai as capital of the new region of Oti.

Speaking at a ceremony to present Constitutional Instrument (CI) No. 112 for the establishment of this region at the Jubilee House in Accra on Friday, February 15, 2019, Mr. Akufo Addo said: "I chose Dambai as the capital of the Oti region."

Nana Akufo-Addo, however, badured the population that the development of the region would be extended to all towns and villages.

Nana Akufo-Addo also appointed Dr. Archibald Letsa, Volta Regional Minister, Acting Minister of the newly created region until the appointment of a deputy minister.

The creation of the Oti region, along with five others, was a New Patriotic Party (NPP) election promise in the 2016 elections.

After the NPP's election victory, an inquiry commission, chaired by retired Supreme Court Justice Stephen Brobbey, was created to ensure the creation of the regions.

As a result, Oti, Bono East, North West, Ahafo, Savane, North East regions have been created.
