The new chairman of the Ghana National Board of Directors of the ECOWAS brown card insurance system, m Victor Obeng-Adiyiah, said the new board of directors would bring this project to life.
He promised to rely on the good work of the former board of directors of the Office.
The executive committee or the board of directors stated that it would focus on the following three areas of the protocol:
1. seek a fair and timely settlement of cross-border claims;
2 to raise public awareness of the relevance of the ECOWAS brown card insurance scheme and the handling of cross-border accidents; and
3. Manage the Office's finances prudently and efficiently.
He made it known in a speech he delivered immediately after the inauguration of the new Executive Committee, which took place on Tuesday, 6 February 2019.
He said it was not acceptable for local insurers and those in other ECOWAS member countries to waive their basic duty of fair and prompt claims. regulations as regards cross-border accidents.
The council would so collaborate with the Permanent Secretariat of the Brown Card Insurance Scheme of ECOWAS, based in Lome, Togo, to achieve this.
Apart from publicity and public education programs for 2019, m Obeng-Adiyiah said beneficiaries should include the judiciary, doctors, trucker and trucker badociations.
He said that, in view of the recent financial crisis in the country, the Executive Committee should review the investment policy of the Office to ensure the protection of its investments.

Mr. Victor Obeng-Adiyiah, General Manager, Unique Insurance Company Ltd.,
Mr. Henry Bukari, General Manager, Phoenix Insurance Company Ltd.,
Mr. Matthew Aidoo, General Manager, Priority Insurance Company Ltd.
Mr. Solomon Lartey, General Manager, Activa International Insurance Company Ltd.,
Ms. Mabel Nana Nyarkoa Porbley, Executive Director of SAHAM Insurance Ghana Ltd.,
Mr. Patrick Agyekum, Secretary General of Ghana National Office, ECOWAS Brown Card Ins. Scheme, and
Mr. Godfried Djanie, Managing Director, Millennium Insurance Company Ltd. (Past President).
A representative of the National Insurance Commission and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration sit on the Executive Committee as observers.
The new board oversees the affairs of the office for a period of two years, until December 31, 2020.
