UMG faces legal action for the unauthorized documentary Drake that surfaced earlier this year. According to TMZ, Symettrica Entertainment is suing Universal Music Group for allegedly withdrawing its documentary on Drake from streaming services. Symettrica claims that UMG sent notices to remove music and video clips from the documentary, Drake: Rewrite the rules. In documents filed in court, the production company claims that UMG's move to extract the documentary "has nothing to do with an alleged" infringement of copyright "and all on the contrary to calm his artist Drake while trying to remove any comment or criticism of Drake. The unauthorized documentary on Drake fell on Vevo in November before being released on Netflix, iTunes and Amazon on January 16th.
