President Akufo-Addo presents constitutional instrument to West-North delegation
The President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, announced that Sefwi Wiawso had been chosen as the capital of the new West-North region.
President Akufo-Addo made this known on Friday, February 15, 2019 by presenting Constitutional Instrument 117 (C.I. 117) to a delegation from the West-North region, officially signifying the creation of the region.
Addressing the meeting, the President said that the creation of the West-North region is the culmination of unrest and pleas of northern residents of the region for about 40 years .

President Akufo-Addo noted that the northern part of the western region is rich in resources but that it has not yet been fully exploited, like most parts of the country, to its economic potential.
"It is still worrying that a region with an abundance of minerals, agro-food and forestry products, continues to be one of the least developed regions of Ghana," he said. declared.
When creating the North-West region, President Akufo-Addo informed residents of Aowin, Bia East, Bia West, Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai, Bodi, Juabeso municipalities and districts. Sefwi Akontombra, Sefwi Wiawso and Suaman, who created the region to bring governance closer together and accelerate their socio-economic development.
"The time when a community near Samreboi has been flooded and NADMO representatives can only go there after seven days will soon be over," he said.
In addition to allocating 20 million GH ¢ as seed money for the establishment of critical infrastructure to take off from the North West region, President Akufo-Addo said that 39, a seven-member government committee, chaired by the Minister of Regional Reorganization and Development, The Hon. As for the other newly created regions, President Akufo-Addo has appointed the current Minister of the Western Region, the Hon. Dr. Kwaku Afriyie, MP for Sefwi Wiawso, as Alternate Minister of the North West Region, until the appointment of a substantive member.
