Young people were invited to donate blood to save lives
Ms. Charity Darko, head of public relations for the Northern Business Sector at MTN-Ghana, called on Ghanaians, especially young people, to express their keen interest in donating blood to save lives.
She said that human blood, because of its crucial importance in saving lives, was the only precious gift that could be made to those who needed it.
"This meant that people were obliged to donate their blood freely and voluntarily, whenever such events were organized in their communities to help prolong the lives of those who might need them at such difficult times," he said. -she adds. .
Ms. Darko made the call to the Ghana News Agency in Oduom, Oforikrom Municipality, when MTN organized a blood drive at St. Louis High School, in collaboration with with the blood bank unit of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH). , to mark the celebration of this year's Valentine's Day.
"One of the ways for people to show their love to others in need is to share their lives with people in need," she added.
The public relations officer indicated that the Society had dedicated each Valentine's Day to the organization of blood drives throughout the country in order to strengthen blood bank stocks of all health facilities .
She expressed her thanks to the KATH authorities and all the regional health authorities of the three northern regions and the Brong Ahafo region for their partnership with MTN as part of its rescue project.
Ms. Darko revealed that about 1,398 people in the three northern regions had donated blood during the exercise, while the Ashanti and Brong Ahafo regions recorded 1,388 donors.
She congratulated the donors for their sacrifice.
