Former President John Mahama showed videos and photos of violence perpetrated by the body
Edem Agbana, deputy national youth organizer at the National Democratic Congress, said former president Mahama had shown leadership in meeting members of the Diplomatic Corps on violence in the by-election of 39; Ayawaso.
According to him, the meeting aimed to dispel the minds of diplomats on the "lying" government that had been told them about Ayawaso By's electoral violence, this time backed up by audio-visual evidence.
Mr. Mahama met on Wednesday and showed members of the diplomatic community videos and photos of the violence that occurred during Ayawaso Wuogon's election. He showed them the shots, the wounded, the physical aggression and the events that led to it.
Reacting to Mr. Mahama's meeting with the diplomats and the subsequent presentation of the violent images that were presented to them, Mr. Osafo-Maafo said that the former President was bending down.
"It's unpatriotic and shameful. It's because if he brought Ghanaians together, call them Ghanaian academics, professionals, or businessmen and he was talking about issues that were of concern to him, I would have no problem. He is a former head of state, then a very important opinion leader, but gathering foreigners and trying to paint Ghana in black is simply not acceptable, "the prime minister condemned in a short video.
But the NDC's youth leader says Mahama has done the right thing because diplomats needed to have a complete picture.
"Before JM's meeting with the diplomatic corps, President Akufo Addo and his government lied to the diplomatic corps to let him know that the violence in Ayawaso West Wuogon was orchestrated by the NDC," the NDC youth leader wrote.
"What JM did was just a remarkable demonstration of leadership. He did not only present the truth, but he also supported his presentation with video footage and other supporting documents. ".
"It is not up to Osarfo Marfo or any of the NPP leaders to determine the meaning of anyone's patriotism, let alone that of JM. In any case, President Akufo Addo described this frontal impunity as an isolated case of violence. Why is it troubled that an isolated case has been reported to the international community? ", He added.
"The shameless attempt to conceal the terrorist attack against unarmed citizens sponsored by the state will not have failed. What happened in Ayawaso West Wuogon is NOT an excess of political vigilance, it is a state-led attack on unarmed civilians! ", Did he declare.
