SINGAPORE – The American at the center of a recent leak of HIV data illegally leaked details of 13 HIV-positive people on whom a health check was planned at Changi prison in 2018.
The Singapore Prison Service (SPS) said in a statement Sunday (17 February) that Mikhy Farrera Brochez sent an email Saturday to some government authorities and media organizations.
The email contained photographs of a piece of paper with a list of NRIC or FIN numbers of 13 HIV-positive people, including himself.
They had to undergo a medical examination on March 28, 2018 at Changi Prison.
"Broche seems to have got unauthorized possession of a copy of the list," said SPS, adding that this list had been prepared by the SPS-appointed medical provider, Parkway Shenton.
"SPS is contacting people on the list to inform them that their information has been unlawfully disclosed by Brochez," said SPS.
"We have worked with the Ministry of Health to provide additional support to those who need it," he said.
SPS has made a police report and investigations are under way.
