Vancouver Coastal Health says it is facing a measles "epidemic" with nine cases in the city this month.
The number of confirmed cases more than doubled compared to four on Friday night, when health authorities said all infections involved three French schools.
Two of the schools are connected by a gate and schools use the same bus company.
Dr. Althea Hayden, Medical Officer of Health, explains that most new confirmed cases are related to one of the French schools.
She says eight cases were confirmed this week and another unrelated case was confirmed last week, bringing the total to nine this month.
Hayden said many of the exposed people had already been vaccinated, but she asked everyone at risk to be examined.
The British Columbia Minister of Health has urged people to be vaccinated for protection against highly infectious disease.
Adrian Dix says it is the responsibility of parents to ensure the immunization of their children and to think about the children of others who may be infected.
He added that vaccination rates may be higher and that anyone needing additional information should contact local health authorities.
