PIAC seeks information on physical infrastructure projects at the national level

The Secretariat of the Public Accountability and Public Interest Committee (PIAC) has invited the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning (MoFEP) to provide information on all the physical infrastructure projects that have been implemented. it intends to finance with oil revenues in the country in 2019.

According to PIAC, an independent statutory body to promote transparency and accountability in the management of the country's oil revenues would allow PIAC to monitor and monitor these projects to avoid any diversion of oil revenues.

Dr. Steve Manteaw, Policy Analyst and President of PIAC, said that the Committee has taken certain steps to ensure that metropolitan, municipal and district bademblies across the country use oil revenues for their intended purposes.

He said that PIAC had finalized the process and that it would soon sign a memorandum of understanding with the Bureau of Economic Crime and organized to facilitate the continuation of rallies that would divert oil revenues.

Dr. Manteaw, who is also Co-Chair of the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative in Ghana (GHEITI), a local chapter of the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI), spoke at a regional stakeholder engagement and dissemination workshop on the 2016 GHEITI Reports. on oil and gas and the mining sector in Abesim, near Sunyani.

The EITI is an international organization that sets a global standard for transparency in the oil, gas and mining sectors.

MoFEP, with the support of GOGIG, organized the workshop with the participation of district chiefs, finance officers, and municipal and district coordinating directors from the municipalities and district bademblies of the region.

Mr Manteaw lamented that, although the budgets had been approved, PIAC's studies showed that there were several unfunded projects financed by oil in the country.
