The Office of Pilgrimage Affairs of Ghana (PAOG), in collaboration with the Hajj Agents Association, has set the price of the Hajj pilgrimage pilgrimage at 19,500 GH ¢, amounting to $ 3,500.
The tariff represents an increase of 23% (4,500 ¢ GH) compared to the rate of last year, which was 15,000 GH ¢.
PAOG, however, indicated that the new rate could have been higher without the government's intervention to make it affordable for more people to perform the pilgrimage.
Event
The announcement was made by the chairman of PAOG, Cheikh I.C. Quaye, at a press conference at the pilgrimage village in Accra.
The President therefore urged future pilgrims to pay their tickets to their respective hajj agents to meet the deadline of April 30, 2019 because there would be no extension of time.
"We would like to appeal to all those who intend to embark on this year's pilgrimage to start paying their hajj ticket in order to avoid last-minute rush because there will be no extension of the deadline of April 30, "he added.
According to him, 6,000 places have been allocated to PAOG for this year's pilgrimage, stating that "Hajj 2019 will be one of the best among the best in PAOG".
Caution
However, the president warned future pilgrims against the treatment of what he called "roadside agents" who, he said, had the habit of promising pilgrims protocol.
According to him, only the government could guarantee anyone a ceremonial slot.
Sheikh Quaye further stated that pilgrims who performed the pilgrimage more than once should pay a fine of GH 2,000 payable prior to the acquisition of a visa, in accordance with instructions from the Saudi government aimed at to prevent the repetition of the pilgrimage.
For his part, Alhaji Issah Umar, president of the Hajj Agents Association, also urged pilgrims to pay their ticket in advance to allow their agents to facilitate their trip within the agreed time of two month to two weeks agreed by the Hajj Council and the Association of Agents.
He also advised them to take inspiration from what happened last year by paying their rates on time to avoid disappointment.
