Mission throughout the country
The Fellowship Secretariat was established in 1960 to administer and provide centralized control over fellowships to ensure effective support for the workforce in the various national development programs.
The MP noted that the secretariat now had a mandate to use both public funds and donor support to provide scholarships to bright students in need, as well as to support the needs of students. skilled workers.
In his view, the centralization of the secretariat in Accra had virtually limited access to the center to people living in or near Accra. He said that this has been a great source of concern for many Ghanaians.
Mr Annoh-Dompreh was satisfied that after a series of commitments to the Parliament's Education Committee, an agreement was reached on the deployment of the decentralization plan.

He urged the secretariat to ensure that fellowships were better suited to development programs such as the One District, One Factory (1D1F) and One Village, One Dam (1V1D) programs.

About the District Scholarship Examination Committee
The Scholarship Secretariat works in collaboration with the Regional Coordinating Councils and the Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies to ensure that Ghanaians can access scholarships in their various districts.
The purpose of this initiative is the systematic decentralization of awarding processes for scholarships to increase transparency and accessibility to available funding opportunities.
As directed by the secretariat, district bademblies are responsible for publishing scholarship openings using district information channels, such as community information centers, parish announcements, mosque publications, among others.
Candidates shortlisted in the enclaves will then appear before the DSRC, following which a recommendation will be made to the secretariat of the Central Scholarship Review Committee, which will then award the scholarship to deserving candidates.
The review committee will be composed of the District or Municipal Director General, a representative of the very dominant traditional authority in the district, a representative of the Ghana Education Service or any other person. one higher education institution in the district, and two other members. representatives appointed by the scholarship secretariat.
