Pavel Nedved spoke about his love for Juventus, the temptation of Manchester United, Cristiano Ronaldo and why he can "rest in peace" with the Champions League.
It is notorious that he missed the 2003 final at Old Trafford due to a suspension, only seeing his teammates lost to Milan on penalties.
The Bianconeri have not won this trophy since 1996 and The Telegraph asked him how he would feel if they put an end to this drought.
"It would make me extremely happy. I wanted to win but I could not win it as a player, but if we managed to win it while I was part of the club, it would be absolutely wonderful, it would be a remarkable achievement. And then, I could rest in peace. "
Nedved is now vice-president, alongside football director Fabio Paratici and president Andrea Agnelli.
"I feel responsible for not letting anyone down, not disappointing anyone. I've been able to do what I love, I've always been treated well, I've always been well paid, that's why. I feel that I have something; that I need to return something. It's always a pleasure, but I still feel that responsibility.
"I can say that in the past, when I was a player, it was less heavy because I could focus on my performance and on myself. But even now, even though my role has changed, I do not want to let anyone down. "
It's also this attitude that has led him to stay at Juventus after the 2006 Calciopoli scandal and to downgrade Serie B.
"It was actually easy to stay. The other players who made the same decision thought the same thing – namely: what would have happened if we had all left the club? We decided to stay because we felt the responsibility to return to the club exactly what we had received. The club believed in us, so it was a good time to give back. That's why it was easy.
Before joining Juventus at Lazio, Nedved had found his home in Italy and Serie A, but he had been tempted by offers coming from England.
"I've always enjoyed English football and the Premier League, it always pleased me. My agent has received offers and I've always been a big supporter of Manchester United and Sir Alex Ferguson, especially at that time. They were certainly one of our biggest adversaries and also a great source of inspiration, motivation and desire.
"He (Ferguson) has achieved great things, unprecedented things and I do not know if anyone else in the future will be able to achieve what he has done. "
"It was an amazing trip, it exceeded my expectations. I could never dream of being where I am right now and I still live this dream: the fact that I am here and doing this job. Football is my greatest love. "
Nedved was also involved in negotiations to bring Cristiano Ronaldo from Real Madrid to Juventus.
"We knew him as a player, but now we know him as a person and we have all been very impressed by his personality, his character. He is much more than a player.
"The way I describe Juventus is that it fits him perfectly. Ronaldo is a player of Juventus. It's a perfect fit and a perfect mindset. "
