Asiedu Nketia, Yamoah Ponkoh and Ofosu Ampofo fled the area for security reasons
One person was confirmed dead at the regional headquarters of the National Democratic Congress (NCD) of the Ashanti region, while two others were seriously injured as a result of an armed brawl that ensued during of a meeting between senior leaders.
The meeting between the party's national executives was bloody when unidentified gunmen belonging to rival factions stormed the room's premises and opened fire on the rally.
Sampson K. Nyamekye, Senior Correspondent for PeaceFM and UTV for the Ashanti region, who was at the scene, reported that Wbadiu Iddris, an NDC activist, had lost his life, while Abdul Issa and a member of the NDC not yet identified, are admitted to the intensive care unit of Komfo Anokye University Hospital.
Sampson Nyamekye added that the attackers escaped and security was strengthened at the regional headquarters.
According to him, the meeting chaired by the party's general secretary, Johnson Asiedu Nketia, was to deal with a misunderstanding between the party's regional chairman, Nana Kwasi, and another party loyalist, Joseph Yamin.
