NEWSROOM (ADV) – The Ebola outbreak continues in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, in the provinces of North Kivu and Ituri.
Declared since 1 August 2018, this epidemic continues to claim victims in DR Congo, although Ebola teams are working hard to eradicate it.
According to Dr Maza, acting coordinator of the Ebola response in the city of Beni, North Kivu province, new confirmed cases of Ebola in that city are becoming rare.
It was during a press conference held on Sunday 17 February in Beni that the interim coordinator of the response to Ebola confirmed this information.
"The Beni health zone that is in the Beni sub-coordination is the twentieth day without any confirmed case of Ebola virus disease," said Dr. Mbaza.
In the wake, the latter has invited the people of Beni to appropriate community surveillance to eradicate the tenth Ebola outbreak that shakes the country led by Felix Tshisekedi.
And with respect to surveillance, this involves pbading positive Ebola cases to health facilities for medical care.
The epidemiological situation of EVD on February 17, 2019 is roughly the following:
- A total of 838 cases (773 confirmed and 65 probable), 534 deaths and 294 people cured;
- 1 new confirmed case;
- 1 new confirmed death case;
- 3 new healings;
- 135 suspected cases.
