DSP Azugu also commented that the SWAT team was not on the ground for the elections, but that it was based on reports that weapons were kept in a nearby house. of the polling station of La Bawaleshie.
He revealed that when his men arrived at the polling station near the target, he asked the security guards not to get off their official vehicle.
"We were in our vehicles because I asked them not to come down," said DSP Azugu to the members of the Commission.
He noted that he had only asked his men to act when they went to the places where it was alleged that weapons had been kept.
"There was sporadic shooting and I asked my men to shoot warning shots."
DSP Azugu said that his men would have been able to recover those weapons that would have been stored there. He called for a reinforcement. The police therefore took over from his team and indicated that he could not confirm whether the weapons had been recovered.
"I do not know yet if the police found weapons in the house when they entered."
