Manchester United news: Solskjaer tops Mourinho win in 13 games

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer of Manchester United once again managed to eclipse Jose Mourinho's winning streak for the club in 2018-19, this time in all competitions.

The interim manager of the Red Devils added another success to his impressive start at Old Trafford, winning 2-0 against Chelsea in the FA Cup to qualify for the quarter-finals of the competition.

Ander Herrera and Paul Pogba's goals in the first half proved the difference for the Solskjaer players who came to Stamford Bridge to win.

Solskjaer, who lost to Paris Saint-Germain last week at Old Trafford, has now found his way back to the weekend's clash with rival Liverpool.

And in the wake, Solskjaer beat his predecessor again in the winning column.

A few weeks ago, the Norwegian signed his eighth Premier League win at the helm, surpbading Mourinho's total seven wins for the season.

On Monday, Solskjaer won 11 victories in 13 games, outperforming Mourinho, who had only 10 wins in 24 games before being sacked in December.

It is not a surprise to see United succeed under Solskjaer, since he has revived Paul Pogba.

With his goal and help for the first match of Herrera, Pogba has been directly involved in 15 goals since the appointment of Solskjaer.

Heung-Min Son of Tottenham is the only Premier League player to have a higher score in this period. He scored 16 goals.

Similarly, he is much better than Pogba with Mourinho, since the midfielder scored five goals and ambaded four badists in 20 games with his Portuguese coach.

And yet, Solskjaer, who has revived Pogba and many other stars of the team with a more offensive philosophy, had a record of mourinho-esque possession in the win over Chelsea.

The Red Devils saw only 33.1% of the ball in the game and won. It's their lowest total in almost a year. In March 2018, the Mourinho team only managed 32.1% against Liverpool, but was also victorious.

The key to this success without the ball is to blunt your opposition, and United did very well against the attack of Maurizio Sarri.

Chelsea only managed two shots in the entire game, both attempts being in the 11th minute.

It was only the second time in 51 outings in cup that the Blues were excluded from the scoreboard, the other being presented in January 2018 against Arsenal in a draw in the semifinals of the Carabao Cup.

Chelsea will try to bounce back from disappointing Malmo in the Europa League midweek, retaining a 2-1 advantage in the match between Stamford Bridge.
