Veep accident: injured security officers, released passengers

All pbadengers and security personnel injured in an accident involving the Vice President's convoy on Saturday night were treated and unloaded.

The spokesman for Dr. Bawumia, who confirmed the incident to Joy News, said the wounded had been transported to the University Hospital of Cape Coast for treatment.

The Vice President escaped unscathed, Gideon Boako said, but added that a driver of the commercial vehicle involved in the accident lost his life.

Richard Kwadwo Nyarko, of Joy News, went to the hospital and announced that the five wounded admitted had been released.

The three men and two women received a blank health certificate from the doctors.

Their wounds – head, shoulders and other minor scratches and bruises – have all been treated.

Meanwhile, the body of the dead driver is at the morgue.

"The thoughts and prayers of the Vice President go to the wounded and to the family of the deceased," said his spokesman.
