play the videoJoyce Dzidzor Mensah, former ambbadador for AIDS
The former AIDS ambbadador, Joyce Dzidzor Mensah, explains why she had to take a German train to beg for money in order to "support Ghanaians for building a church".
She told NEWS-ONE that she had done it because she was "a concerned citizen".
A video made on social media over the weekend captured Dzidzor Mensah aboard a train in the process of begging for funds from pbadengers.
Speaking sarcastically to these pbadengers, she said Ghana urgently needed funds to set up a church "for Jesus Christ to come live in Ghana because we have too many problems."
"We do not have enough schools for children, we do not have enough drinking water, we do not have ambulances, so when a person gets sick, they die," she said. added.
Wearing a yellow bowl, Joyce Dzidzor went from one pbadenger to another, urging them to make a donation of € 100 before paying € 50.
The video has sparked many condemnations from Ghanaians who think Ghana has been dishonored.
Some Ghanaians also interpreted his action as a ploy to make fun of President Akufo-Addo's decision to build a national cathedral for Ghana.
When NEWS-ONE contacted her to find out if it was a skit, she said, "I was not really doing it for money. It's not a movie either. I am only a concerned citizen. "
