He made the remark at the Pacific Ending Childhood Obesity Network Program meeting earlier in the day.

According to Dr. Waqainabete, statistics reveal an increase in obesity of 8.5% since 2002, with an estimated 32.1% of adults declared obese.

The Minister of Health said that this in itself calls for accelerated and concerted collective regional action to put an end to the growing epidemic of obesity and overweight.
