The six are the Korle-Klottey Assembly with for capital Osu, the Central Ablekuma with the capital Laterbiokorshie, the Ayawaso Central Assembly with Kokomlele for capital.
The others are the Achiase Assembly whose capital is Achiase, the Anloga Assembly whose capital is Anloga and the Northeast Gonja Assembly with Kpalibe as its capital. "
At a press conference Sunday, Information Minister Kojo Oppong Nkrumah said: "A number of state ministers have been appointed to lead the inauguration ceremonies. in the name of His Excellency the President. "
"The government expects this to strengthen the decentralization and development of these districts," he added.
The Korle-Klottey Municipal Assembly, the Ablekuma Central Assembly and the Ayawaso Central Municipal Assembly have been separated from the Accra Metropolitan Assembly. (AMA).
The Northeast Gonja District Assembly is being separated from the Gonja East Municipal Assembly in the Northern Region.
The badembly of the district of Achiase is being cut from the badembly of the southern district of Birim in the eastern region, and the district badembly Anloga is being cut from the Keta Municipal Assembly.
There are currently 254 Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) and the creation of the five MMDAs will bring the number to 260.
In November 2018, the government submitted to Parliament nine legislative instruments aimed at creating five new districts in the country.
In 2017, a bill was pbaded to allow the creation of 38 new districts, which the Ministry of Local Government hoped to help bring development closer to the people.
