"I practiced every day in my room, you were at the bottom of the crown."

A popular London pub, featured in the lyrics of The Clash's "Stay Young", reportedly announced the latest orders for the last time this month.

The Brixton Buzz reports that the Crown & Scepter in Streatham, South London, will close on February 24th.

It is believed that the watering hole dates back to 1825 and was endorsed by the 1978 Clash title, which appears on the second album of their film, Give 'Em Enough Rope.'

"I practiced every day in my room, you prepare your next move, "The punk icon Joe Strummer sings on the track.

While writing on the forum Brixton Buzz, a user wrote: "The bar staff confirmed tonight that the pub closes this Sunday, January 24. It looks like it will also come out with a groan – no alarm clock is planned.

"His pbading is a blow for those of a certain age with a certain level of income …"

Liberal Democrats Lambeth also used Twitter to share their sadness.

"It's shameful to hear Brixton Buzz's confirmation that the closure of the wreath and the scepter of Streatham," they wrote. "Losing a local institution is always a blow to the regulars, but especially considering the history and the privileged location of the pub."

Shame to have heard Brixton Buzz confirm that the wreath and the scepter of Streatham are closing.

Losing a local institution is always a blow for the regulars, but especially given the history and the privileged location of this pub.

Although the closure is not yet confirmed, the pub is managed by JD Wetherspoon, contacted by NME for comments.
