DIDIER DESCHAMPS hinted that Anthony Martial's improved form was due to the departure of Jose Mourinho from Man Utd's head office.
The French striker had a stormy relationship with Mourinho during his stay at Old Trafford and was linked to a move last summer.
It is only since the arrival of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer before Christmas that Martial's form has improved, scoring twice in his last four appearances.
Last month, Martial praised the positive impact of Solskjaer by saying, "It allows me to express myself".
Deschamps left Martial out of his World Cup team last summer in Russia, but acknowledges that this 23-year-old looks like a changed man.
Deschamps, 50, said: "It's always hard to know what can happen, but all players can have a period when they are less successful on the field.
"It's certainly linked to trust. This can be related to the relationship they have with their coach.
"It happens every season, for all players. Anthony Martial is back in a very, very good level. It is often decisive. He also had physical problems.
SPECIAL PRAISE Mourinho ends his quarrel with fierce rival Wenger with a laudatory tribute at the awards ceremony
"He is a player who was with us at Euro 2016, he was not present for the World Cup but he is one of the players we follow regularly.
"He is a young player who is gaining maturity because he started very early at Manchester United and with the French team.
"There are always difficult times, but in terms of potential, it has everything you need to be at the highest level."
On Monday night, around the same time that Chelsea was eliminated from the fifth round of the FA Cup and Maurizio Sarri was suspended from his post, Deschamps had words of wisdom for the Blues manager.
N'Golo Kante was eliminated from Stamford Bridge to welcome his team-mate Jorginho.
Still, Deschamps thinks Kante should be played in the defensive midfielder.
Sending to the Laureus World Sports Award, Deschamps said, "When he is with me in the French national team, he has great importance in this low position.
"He's very important in terms of defense and the organization of the match. Every coach has his training, a different vision but I'm not worried about it.
"It's a good thing that players are versatile and can play in different formations or positions."
