Bitcoin reached a record $ 4,002.71 on Tuesday, just days after JPMorgan announced the launch of its own dollar-linked cryptocurrency. The largest market capitalization cryptocurrency jumped 10%, reaching its highest level in more than a month after Thursday's announcement.

The largest US bank of badets said Thursday that she had created and successfully tested a cryptocurrency that would have a value equivalent to one US dollar. The digital currency, called "JPM Coin", is based on blockchain technology and is intended to allow the "instant transfer of payments between institutional accounts", CNBC first reported.

Investors in the digital currency space saw prices soar in 2017, as cryptomania swept the world. Bitcoin began the year 2017 with a value of less than $ 1,000 a piece before climbing more than 2,000% to a high of $ 19,511. The year 2018, however, was another story: the value of cryptocurrency has dropped 70% to reach a minimum of $ 3,136 a piece.

Bitcoin was up 3% this year after Tuesday's peak.
