The Nigerian government on Saturday ordered the reopening of all the country's borders after the postponement of the presidential elections and to the National Assembly by the electoral body.

In a brief statement, Muhammad Babandede, Comptroller General of the Nigerian Immigration Service, said the borders had been reopened to allow free movement of people.

Babandede stated that immigration officers would continue their normal border control and patrol duties to ensure that all persons crossing Nigeria's land, air and sea borders traveled with valid and authentic documents. .

The Independent National Electoral Commission of Nigeria announced on Saturday morning the postponement of the elections for one week, citing problems close to logistics.
