A high school student was brought before a circuit court in Accra on Monday for stealing a five-cent-worth of a knife from Gabriel Kwame Sarfo-Asare.
The accused allegedly stole the complainant, who is also a student on 13 February, in Dansoman, Accra.
He pleaded not guilty and was returned to the court chaired by Aboagye Tandoh.
He must reappear on March 4 for the court to rule on a bail application.
The facts of the case, as submitted by Chief Inspector of Police William Boateng, indicated that the Applicant was a student and residing in Odorkor Chabaa. The accused was also a student at Adisadel College in Cape Coast and resided in Abeka Lapaz in Accra.
He stated that the applicant was on vacation and was taking vacation courses on the campus of Accra Methodist University.
He stated that on February 13, at about 7:30 am, the applicant was walking when the accused met him on the campus of the university and asked to receive 5 ¢.
Mr. Boateng stated that the complainant refused the request, but that the accused had taken a knife out of his pocket and threatened to open his binder or be stabbed.
The prosecution stated that, out of fear of his life, the plaintiff had opened the bag and that the accused had stolen and blocked it.
The complainant sounded the alarm and two security officers on campus, namely Foster Gbeklui and Baba Akatu, arrested the accused.
The note ¢ 5 and a small knife with orange handle were removed from his pocket and given to the police.
He stated that the accused had confessed to threatening the complainant with a knife.
