The law must take into account the perpetrators of the shooting that occurred at a meeting between national officials and regional officials of the National Democratic Congress (CND) in Kumasi on Monday, February 18, 2019, following the death of Mr. Haruna. Iddrisu, leader of minorities in Parliament, said.

On Tuesday, 19 February, he told reporters in Parliament: "I was not in Kumasi, so I can not speak to the facts about it but express my concern at the insecurity in the country.

"Many of you will remember the President 's appearance before Parliament in one of the speeches on the state of the nation. I reminded him that he was the commander-in-chief of Ghana's armed forces and not invincible forces. It was to send this message that, as president, his primary responsibility was the security of Ghana's citizens and the enforcement of the law. Therefore, we must be ready to act. "

He added: "With regard to the events in Kumasi, the law must deal promptly, decisively and ruthlessly with anyone badociated with the event.

"It was unfortunate that this was happening. We spoke to the Secretary General to inquire about his safety, as well as the National President and others. "

Context

An armed man identified by eyewitnesses as a member of the NDC-affiliated The Hawks self-defense group fired on party members at a meeting of the regional executive in Kumasi.

According to eyewitnesses, the shooter fired the first victim three times, first in the thigh, then in the stomach and back as he fell to the ground.

Reports to ClbadFMonline.com indicate that Hawks members camped on one side of the meeting, while members of the NDC task force also camped on the opposite side.

According to eyewitnesses, one of the Hawks' members started throwing tantrums, indicating that something was going to happen. The victim of the working group approached him and told him that nothing would happen.

This resulted in lively verbal exchanges and the Hawks member took out a gun and shot the victim of the NDC task force, eyewitnesses said.

The victim was transported to Komfo Anokye University Hospital where he died.

Another victim shot by the same gunman was injured but still alive and in critical condition.

The suspect is currently on the run.

At the same time, the party issued a statement claiming that armed men on motorbikes had driven and shot at its supporters before running at full speed.

The statement, signed by the party's regional secretary, Kwame Zu, said: "Men armed with motorbikes wielding weapons attacked an outside rally, fired indiscriminately, and sped out at full speed."
