Former Finance Minister Seth Terkper described Akufo-Addo's Beyond Aid in Ghana program as imperative.

He had talks with StarrFM on Tuesday, February 19 about the Ghanaian economy and what the country should do to move forward.

In the interview followed by DGN Online, Mr Terkper said that Ghana Beyond Aid was not just an item the country needed, but that it was imperative.

Mr. Terkper was Minister of Finance under the Mahama government. Under his tenure as finance minister, Ghana's economy sank into a rumor that the then-president, Mahama, was planning to remove him from Ghana as chief financial officer.

According to him, once Ghana has become a middle-income country and will continue to grow, help and access to loans on more favorable terms will decrease.

He said it was therefore important for the country to take steps to go beyond aid and improve national revenue mobilization efforts.

His interview included cleaning up the banking sector, government borrowing, debt, and spending in the energy sector.
