Sam Okudzeto Ablakwa
First Member of Parliament's Foreign Affairs Committee to be on trial for what he calls the failure of the Minister of National Security to provide Parliament with annual reports on intelligence agencies from Ghana.
In a letter to the Chief State Attorney, Sam Okudzeto Ablakwa said: "This Minister, after taking office, has repeatedly failed or refused to meet his obligations to Parliament ".
Mr. Ablakwa stated that his calls to the Speaker of Parliament to order the Minister to comply with the law and to provide Parliament with reports have resulted in no result.
"Similarly, the member of the hierarchy within the Defense and Interior Committee (…) has made several appeals to parliament for the said minister to submit the reports without any positive response," the letter added.
The parliamentarian from North Tongu said that he had decided to go to court "after the expiry of the one-month notice period" to ask the minister to respect Parliament and to provide in the House reports.
