A second child has died of the flu this season in Colorado

The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment announced that a second child had died of flu in the state this year.

KUSA-TV reports that the last death was reported during the week ending February 16th. The first death was reported during the week ending January 12th.

No specific information regarding the victims was published, if it was that they were under 18 years old.

The latest data from the Colorado agency indicate that just over 2,000 people have been hospitalized for the flu since the start of the 2018-19 season. The majority of these hospitalizations occur between 0 to 4 year olds and adults over 65 years of age.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention report that the vaccination this season is effective at about 47% and that the high season is yet to come.
