The African Democratic Congress (ADC) accused the Progressive Congress (PCA) of intimidating the opposition and Nigerians with a death threat.
He warned that the leaders of the APC risked being prosecuted before the International Criminal Court (ICC) if they failed to protect lives in the next general election.
The party's position was contained in a statement by its national advertising secretary, Yemi Kolapo, following an emergency meeting of the party's national working committee.
According to Kolapo, the emergency meeting was held yesterday to discuss the events that led to the postponement of the general elections, the reasons invoked by the Independent National Electoral Commission and the actions of the presidency.
She added that the party leaders were determined to insist that the INEC organize the elections of the governors and the House of Assembly on March 2nd.
She also said that the party had changed position on the call for the resignation of the president of the INEC, Professor Mahmood Yakubu.
The statement reads in part as follows: "The meeting reviewed previous positions taken in our press release, which required President Muhammadu Buhari and INEC President, Professor Mahmood Yakubu, to resign.
"After reviewing INEC's explanations of the postponement and the results of independent, behind-the-scenes investigations, the ADC concluded that government officials or fifth-party APC administration were responsible for: logistical failure.
"As a result, we have changed our original position on the INEC President and have decided that he should be allowed to wrap up his mandate. We therefore call on President Buhari to recall the order to those responsible for his administration and to allow the INEC to carry out its task without further interference.
"We note the shenanigans, the deliberate undemocratic threats and the deadly alarms of the leaders of the APC, especially President Buhari, alluding to the fact that Nigerians pay with their lives in cases that are clearly sanctioned, in accordance with to the electoral laws of the country.
"We also note the instigation of El-Rufai to inflict ethnic bloodshed, bring back impetuous body shots in paper bags warning international observers, as well as the position sad and sad by party chairman Adams Oshiomhole against free and fair elections, which should not be taken for granted as we prepare for the postponed ballots.
"We therefore call on the President, as well as all political leaders, to show good conduct, especially with regard to the elections and to be in tune with Jonathan's legacy. We urge APC leaders to work to protect all lives and not to take any, because failure could expose all leaders to the World Court in The Hague. "
