A cybersecurity expert warns that most small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the country are more vulnerable to cybersecurity threats.
According to Delta3 International, managing partner of ICT solutions provider Del Aden, the SME sector has become a prime target for hackers because their security systems are considered the weak link in the supply chain.
Del Aden has been talking with JoyBusiness during the media launch of the first conference of infoSec leaders and information technology (IT) in Ghana in Accra.
"We have the impression that we are only small people, the pirates do not need anything from us; false because we believe that the data collected shows that hackers really like to attack small businesses, "he said.
Mr. Aden added, "Because they know that small businesses do not have the funds to put in place a lot of control measures, they see them as a weak point."
He called on the government to intervene by providing resources to protect small businesses.
"Small business owners need additional training; they already have a lot of trouble trying to run their business; The government and the community at large should do more to educate, educate and train small businesses in Ghana, "he said.
About the conference
The first InfoSec and Information Technology (IT) Leaders Conference in Ghana, scheduled for March 28 this year, aims to bring together business leaders to meet with leading opinion leaders and policy makers in the areas of computer and cyber security to foster collaboration and partnership in the country's fight against cyber crimes and attacks.
Delta 3 International Ltd., a UK provider of information security and communication technology (ICT) solutions, works with information technology industry experts to organize the conference.
The theme of the event would be "Mitigate IT Risks Through Effective Leadership".
