Man Utd to sign six-year contract with Marcus Rashford after breakthrough in negotiations

Manchester United has made a breakthrough in talks to keep local hero Marcus Rashford at the club in the long run.

The striker said he was ready to sign a new contract that would keep him in the club until 2025, after positive discussions that aimed to make him one of the best Top Paid Players at Old Trafford.

And executive vice president, Ed Woodward, is confident that he will be able to announce a new contract for the 21-year-old player in the coming weeks.

Rashford had doubts about his future in United with Jose Mourinho and had announced a start looking for a more regular first team football.

But since the arrival of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, he has become one of the first names of the team and has responded with a series of goals scored eight goals in his last 15 matches .

Since leaving Mourinho, he has played 13 of the last 13 games, including one with a FA Cup draw against Reading, a wrestler in the championship.

One of Woodward's priorities when he appointed Solskjaer as a temporary manager was to see a shift in the selection policy that gave more opportunities to young talent, such as Rashford, Anthony Martial and Andreas Pereira.

The new boss gave more time to the three players. Martial reacted by signing a new five-year contract last week, valued at £ 200,000 a week.

Pereira wants to find football from the first team, but United will trigger a one – year extension to keep him at the club in the hope that he will always be persuaded to accept new conditions.

Woodward promised that there would be news on the current players' contracts during a call to investors last week, and he aims to reach an agreement on Ander Herrera alongside Rashford in the upcoming weeks.

United is also in talks with Guardian David de Gea, but the Spanish international said it was not yet ready to sign a new contract even though talks are continuing. Juan Mata and Ashley Young have also been offered new offers.
