A new leadership conflict in Bolgatanga has caused the death of one person
One person was shot dead while another is in critical condition at the Bolgatanga Regional Hospital, as a result of a renewed conflict between Bolgatanga leaders on Tuesday.
Although the cause of the resumption of the leadership conflict has not yet been determined, soldiers and police have been deployed in the city to restore peace.
Confirming the incident at Citi News, the Upper East Regional Police Commander, ACP Ampofo Duku, said: a critical condition. At present, the person is still on admission. "
The Bolga chieftaincy conflict has been going on for some time now.
In 2017, two people were reportedly killed and wounded in new alleged clashes between chieftaincy leaders in the Atulbabisi community of Bolgatanga, in the Far East region.
Many houses were burned down and personal property was also vandalized during the clash.
Context
Clashes between Bolgatanga leaders began after the death of Bolgatanga's supreme leader, Naba Martin Abilba III, in 2013, with his eldest son and another royal claim on the stool.
The Judiciary Committee of the House of Chiefs of the Upper East Region has ruled on this, but the case is currently pending before the Bolgatanga High Court.
