President Nana Akufo-Addo is determined to lay a solid foundation for the country's progress by the end of her first term.

The opposition blamed the government for introducing a number of reforms in the education sector, including the two-tiered high school policy.

The move became necessary after the implementation of the Free High High School policy, which saw a considerable increase in the number of students enrolled at this level.

However, in his third speech on the state of the nation, the President of the European Parliament said Thursday in Parliament that his administration is not intended to win the next election, but that of the unborn generation.

"I am determined to lead a responsible administration, concerned with the next generation and not the next elections," he told the badembly.

On the economic front, the president acknowledged that the government's efforts to ensure fiscal policy are "bearing fruit".

The debt-to-GDP ratio, he noted, has declined, while inflation has also declined.

"We will maintain discipline and make progress in our country," he badured the crowd, stressing that the government's main goal was to ensure a healthy and fundamental economy to accelerate growth.

The annual State of the Nation Address is designed in accordance with Article 67 of the 1992 Constitution.
