The index of leading economic indicators in the United States fell by 0.1% in January, the Conference Board said Thursday, but said some of its components had been estimated due to the closure of the government.

A number of economic data releases were delayed due to the government's five-week shutdown, which ended on January 25.
The Conference Board also said that the December index had been revised to unchanged. It had been reported to have decreased by 0.1 percent. January's data also includes annual benchmark revisions, he added.
