The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, announced the timetable for reporting the results of the 2019 presidential election.
The commission badured that the results would not last longer than the 2015 elections, despite the number of presidential candidates, the size of the results sheets and the increase in the electoral population.
INEC's president, Professor Mahmood Yakubu, said Wednesday in Abuja while informing reporters of the state of readiness of the commission for the polls.
Yakubu said the commission was working to make sure it does not let Nigerians wait for days without declaring the results.
He added that the deadline would not exceed that obtained in 2015.
Recall that in 2015, while the presidential election was held on a Saturday, the winner was declared only the following Wednesday.
Mahmood said, "Although we have more presidential candidates than in 2015, we have more registered voters than in 2015, the size of the results sheet is greater than that." 39 in 2015, but we are determined to conclude process for presidential elections around the same time we have concluded the 2015 general elections.
