Police search for 8 men suspected of Hawks' membership
Police in the Ashanti region have declared eight more people wanted as a result of the Kumasi firing of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), which has resulted in one death.
Abdul Wasihu Iddrisu, a member of a pro-NDC militant group, was reportedly shot dead by another NDC self-defense group on 18 February 2019 in Kumasi.
He was buried Wednesday, February 20 in Tafo in the Ashanti region, according to Islamic culture.
The police initially declared four wanted persons. Among them were Hussein Bari aka "Warrior", "Midjima", Damos and "Abu Taliban".
But on February 20, the Ashanti Regional Police Command Public Affairs Department, in a statement signed by Deputy Superintendent of Police, Godwin Ahianyo, announced that a total of 12 suspects were wanted in connection with the killing.
According to the statement, Sani Mohammed aka "Commando", "Wayo" "Element", "Jah Rule", "Akon", "Fayiz", "Mallam" and "Rock" are among the suspects.
The police therefore called on the general public to voluntarily provide information to arrest the suspects.
The late Iddrisu was killed as senior NDC officials gathered at the party headquarters to meet following the recent conflict in the region.
Joseph Yamin and Yamoah Ponkoh, former Vice Ministers of Youth and Sports, were invited by the police to be interrogated about the shooting incident that made a person also injured.
