The chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, said he was not considering resigning his opposition following controversy over the postponement of the general election.
The president of the INEC said this during the daily press conference of the commission Thursday.
The commission also reiterated its position on the All Progressive Congress, APC in the states of Rivers and Zamfara, claiming that it would abide by the decision of the Supreme Court.
He said, "We have already said that to the parties in question. the position of the commission has not changed, once a court has pronounced, all the people and all the authorities of the Federal Republic of Nigeria are in the obligation. But if the judgment comes from the Supreme Court, it is the end of the litigation.
"We simply can not make decisions without court orders. We can not just cook things. We are a law-abiding institution / commission
"If an organ does not agree with the commission's position, that person is free to go to a superior court to challenge our position. But with regard to the decision of the Supreme Court, that is the end of the litigation.
"Am I under pressure? I said yesterday, well, I see no reason to even consider resigning. There is no reason to even think about quitting.
On the possibility of postponing the elections again, Yakubu said: "We will remain focused as a commission. And we will do the work we have to do for our country. "
